Background : Non-Hodgkin lymphomas are among the most common malignancies of the lymphatic system and may initially present with head and neck manifestations. This study aimed to investigate the clinicopathological features and survival of patients with head and neck non-Hodgkin lymphomas .

Methods: This was a retrospective descriptive-analytical survival study. All patients with head and neck non-Hodgkin lymphomas whose pathological specimens were examined at the pathology department of Shahid Sadoughi Hospital in Yazd between 2011 and 2020 were included.

Findings: A total of 55 patients were included in the study. The most common pathological type was Diffuse large B cell lymphoma, with a frequency of 76.4%. The most frequent clinical manifestation was a neck mass (63.6%), and the most common site of involvement was the neck. The highest mean age was observed in patients with T-cell lymphomas, while the lowest mean age was seen in Burkitt lymphoma; this difference was statistically significant (P=0.001). The type of treatment showed a significant association with the pathological type (P=0.001). At the end of the follow-up period, 32.7% of the patients had died, and the mean survival time was 79.5 months.

Conclusion: Diffuse large B cell lymphoma is the most common type of head and neck non-Hodgkin lymphoma among the studied patients. Clinicopathological features, treatment type, and pathological subtype significantly affect survival. Understanding these patterns can contribute to improving diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making for patients with head and neck non-Hodgkin lymphomas.
