Abstract
This study examines therapeutic approaches for chronic dry cough caused by upper sinus infections, a topic of high importance because many patients present to physicians with these symptoms. Although the study attempts to demonstrate the effects of medications on symptom improvement, methodological weaknesses reduce the reliability of the results. One major limitation is the absence of a control group. Comparing treated patients with a control group could have allowed a more accurate assessment of the drugs’ effects. Additionally, the drug compositions used and their potential outcomes were not fully evaluated, despite the fact that some medications may have side effects, making careful consideration essential. Patient selection was not based on standardized criteria. The lack of clear inclusion and exclusion criteria increases the likelihood of errors and heterogeneity in the results. Furthermore, the methods for data collection and measuring symptom duration were not clearly described, which complicates interpretation of the findings. The statistical methods employed were also insufficiently precise, further reducing the credibility of the results. Although some findings indicate a relative reduction in patient symptoms, the weaknesses in study design and data analysis make it difficult to fully trust the outcomes. In summary, this study addresses an important topic; however, to obtain more reliable results, future research should use more rigorous study designs, include control groups, and use standardized statistical methods.
