The existence of impacted mandibular third molar leads to increase of in the caries in the distal neck of second molar due to the contact of third molar. Subjects and Methods: This study was analytical cross-sectional study conducted from May 2014 to March 2015 among 50 patients with mandibular third molar impaction. Panoramic X-rays and Bitewing radiograph was taken to determine the impaction types and the presence or absence of the second molar caries. Chi-square test was used to investigate the relationship between the mandibular third molar impaction and mandibular second molar distal surface caries.  Data were analysis by SPSS software version 18. PResults: The most common type of dental impaction was the mesioangular (34%). Distoangular and horizontal was (24%) while the vertical impaction was (18%). The degree of impaction in class II (80%) and for class III (20%) were recorded. According to the classification of Pell and Gregory, classes B was classified as the most prevalent impaction, and class A was the lowest. The prevalence of caries was reported in 52% cases. 38.48% cases of caries belonged to mesioangular impaction form which was significantly higher than other types (P<0.05). Conclusion: Our study showed that the angle of impaction (mesioangular and horizontal) and the class II had significant correlation with caries.}, keywords = {Impacted teeth,Third molar,Caries,Mesioangular}, title_fa = {بررسی ارتباط بین نوع نهفتگی مولر سوم مندیبل و پوسیدگی سطح دیستال مولر دوم مندیبل}, abstract_fa = {زمینه و هدف: دندان نهفته دندانی است کـه بـه واسـطه  سد فیزیکی در مسیر رویش، از رویش باز مانده اسـت. وجود دندان مولر سوم نهفته مندیبل از آنجا که با  سطح دیستال دندان مولر دوم در تماس است، موجب ریسک پوسیدگی در دیستال دندان مولر دوم می گردد. روش  بررسی: مطالعه ی حاضر  مطالعه مقطعی و اپیدمیولوژیک تحلیلی بود که در سال 1393 برروی 50 بیمار با نهفتگی مولر سوم مندیبل صورت گرفت.رادیوگرافیهای پانورامیک جهت تعیین نوع نهفتگی و رادیوگرافی بایت وینگ برای تعیین وجود یا عدم وجود پوسیدگی تهیه گردید. با استفاده ازآزمون کای دو به بررسی ارتباط پوسیدگی مولر دوم مندیبل و نوع نهفتگی مولر سوم پرداخته شد.تجزیه و تحلیل داده ها با سطح معنی داری (05/0P < ) در نظر گرفته شد. یافتهها: بیشترین نوع نهفتگی متعلق به نهفتگی مزیوانگولار با (34%) و نهفتگی های دیستوانگولار و افقی با (24%)  و نهفتگی عمودی (18%) بود. درجه ی نهفتگی کلاس II،  (80%) و کلاس III، (20%) گزارش گردید. بر اساس Pell and Gregory، اکثر نهفتگی ها جزو کلاس B و کلاس A کمترین بود. میزان  فراوانی پوسیدگی در این مطالعه (52%) دیده شد. 48/38% از موارد پوسیدگی در نهفتگی نوع مزیوانگولار(05/0p>) و 48/38%  در نوع هوریزنتال(04/0 p=) دیده شد که به طور معنی داری بیشتر از سایر انواع نهفتگی ها بود. نتیجهگیری:  در این مطالعه بین زاویه نهفتگی (مزیوانگولار و هوریزنتال) و عمق نهفتگی (کلاس 2) با پوسیدگی ارتباط معنی داری وجود دارد.  }, keywords_fa = {Impacted teeth,Third molar,Caries,Mesioangular}, url = {https://jsmj.ajums.ac.ir/article_54355.html}, eprint = {https://jsmj.ajums.ac.ir/article_54355_4d5f19c2efd874bb46dc087b3c66dfbe.pdf} }
