Diabetes is a risk factor for greater periodontal destruction. Periodontitis is recognized as the sixth serious complication of diabetes. The aim of the present study was to compare the community periodontal index of treatment needs (CPITN) of type 2 diabetic patients compared to nondiabetic patients referred to Ahvaz Golestan hospital in 2017-2018. Subjects and Methods: The present analytic epidemiological study was conducted on 115 type 2 diabetic patients and 115 nondiabetic patients (age range, 35-60 years) referred to Ahvaz Golestan hospital. The subjects were selected, randomly. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants. Demographic parameters including age, gender, education level and data about frequency of dental visits, blood glucose indices and CPITN index were collected. Data were analyzed using a Chi-Square analysis and SPSS. Results: The CPITN index in diabetic patients was significantly higher than nondiabetic patients. The difference of CPITN index regarding behavior of tooth brushing, frequency of dental visits, age, and education level was significant between two groups, but concerning the gender no significant difference was found between two groups. Conclusion: People with diabetes are more likely to experience periodontal disease. The results of present study indicated that diabetic patients need more periodontal treatment, but the gender did not affect these results. This could be explaining the destructive effect of diabetes on periodontitis tissues and decreased salivary secretion. Therefore, diabetes education programs are recommended.}, keywords = {Periodontal disease,Diabetes Mellitus,Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs (CPITN)}, title_fa = {بررسی شاخص نیازهای درمانی پریودنتال (CPITN) در بیماران دیابتیک نوع II و مقایسه با بیماران غیر دیابتی در بیمارستان گلستان شهرستان اهـواز سال 96-97}, abstract_fa = {زمینه و هدف: بیماریهای پریودنتال، جز بیماریهای التهابی می باشد؛ دیابت اثر مخرب بر بافت های پریودنتال دارد و پریودنتیت ششمین عارضه دیابت شناخته شده است. این مطالعه، به منظور تعیین CPITN در بیماران دیابتیک نوع II و مقایسه آن با بیماران غیر دیابتی در بیمارستان گلستان در شهرستان اهواز در سال 97-96 انجام شد. روش بررسی: در این مطالعه اپیدمیولوژیک- تحلیلی 115 بیمار مبتلا به دیابت نوع II و 115 فرد سالم مراجعه کننده به بیمارستان گلستان اهواز در رده سنی (60-35) سال بصورت تصادفی انتخاب شدند. و با گرفتن رضایت ضمنی، اطلاعات دموگرافیک بیماران (سن، جنس و میزان تحصیلات) و دفعات مراجعه به دندان پزشک، وضعیت دیابت براساس آخرین آزمایشات و شاخصCPITN  در پرسشنامه ثبت شد و اطلاعات جمعآوری شده با آزمون کای اسکوئر آنالیز و در نرم افزار SPSS مقایسه شدند. یافته ها: شاخص CPITN در بیماران دیابتیک به طور معناداری از افراد سالم بیشتر بود. مقایسه این شاخص بین دو گروه از لحاظ تعداد دفعات مسواک زدن، دفعات مراجعه به دندانپزشک، سن، تحصیلات معنادار شد ولی از لحاظ جنس معنادار نبود. نتیجه گیری: دیابت باعث افزایش نیاز به درمان پریودنتال می شود. این تغییر وابسته به جنس نمی باشد و ناشی از اثر مخرب دیابت بر انساج پریودنشیوم و کاهش میزان ترشح بزاق توجیه می شود. توصیه میشود در مرکز دیابت آموزش بهداشت ارتقا یابد.}, keywords_fa = {بیماری پریودنتال,دیابت ملیتوس,شاخص نیاز به درمان پریودنتال,CPITN}, url = {https://jsmj.ajums.ac.ir/article_73417.html}, eprint = {https://jsmj.ajums.ac.ir/article_73417_eea0d2d147be9bdd9f5cf851fa5ffa7a.pdf} }
