This study was designed to evaluate the frequency of plasma sodium and potassium imbalancein children hospitalized with gastroenteritis in Ahvaz's Golestan Hospital during two- year period (2011 and 2012). Subjects and Methods: This is an epidemiologic and medical record-based study, which included all admitted children with gastroenteritis at Golestan hospital between 2011 and 2012, in Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences. Patients' data such as the type of electrolyte abnormality, age, sex, type and frequency of diarrhea, severity of dehydration, convulsion, and duration of hospitalization were gathered. Results: From 252 hospitalized patients, 204 cases were included in this study, of whom 141 patients (69.1%) were male and 63 patients (30.9%) were female. One hundred and eighteen (57.8%) of these patients had plasma electrolyte imbalances. Hyponatremia was the most common type (66.7%) followed by hypokalemia (22.1%).Age, sex, the frequency of diarrhea, severity of dehydration and occurrence of convulsion had significant correlation with the electrolyte abnormalities. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, electrolyte imbalances are relatively common in children with gastroenteritis. Younger age, female sex, higher frequency of the diarrhea and severity of dehydration, were predisposing factors for electrolyte abnormalities in acute gastroenteritis.Further steps should be taken to educate the society on the use of Standard Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and appropriate fluids in children with diarrhea.  }, keywords = {Acute gastroenteritis,children,electrolyte abnormalities,dehydration}, title_fa = {بررسی میزان فراوانی اختلالات سدیم و پتاسیم پلاسما در کودکان مبتلا به گاستروانتریت بستری‌شده در بیمارستان گلستان اهواز در سال‌های 1390 و 1391}, abstract_fa = {زمینه و هدف: گاستروانتریت یکی از شایعترین بیماریها و علت اصلی دهیدراتاسیون و اختلالات الکترولیتی در کودکان است. این مطالعه با هدف بررسی میزان فراوانی اختلالات سدیم و پتاسیم پلاسما در کودکان مبتلا به گاستروانتریت بستریشده در بیمارستان گلستان اهواز در سالهای 1390 و 1391 طراحی شد. روش بررسی: مطالعۀ انجامشده، یک مطالعۀ اپیدمیولوژیک توصیفی- تحلیلی مبتنی بر اطلاعات بیمارستانی میباشد. جامعۀ مورد مطالعه شامل تمامی کودکان بستریشده با تشخیص گاستروانتریت در بیمارستان گلستان اهواز طی سالهای 1390 و 1391 بود. اطلاعات 252 بیمار شامل اختلال الکترولیتی، سن، جنس، وزن هنگام تولد، نوع و دفعات اسهال، مدت اسهال، میزان دهیدراتاسیون، تشنج، و تعداد روزهای بستری از پرونده ها اخذگردید. یافتهها: تعداد 252 کودک با بیماری گاستروانتریت بستری شدند که بر اساس معیارهای  خروج از مطالعه 48نفر آنهاحذف و مجموعا 204 نفر وارد مطالعه شدند که 141 بیمار پسر (1/69 درصد) و 63 بیمار دختر (9/30 درصد) بودند. 118 بیمار (8/57 درصد) از کل بیماران دچار اختلال الکترولیتی بودند که شایعترین هیپوناترمی(7/66) وپس ازآن هیپوکالمی(1/22) بود. بروز اختلال الکترولیتی با سن، جنس، تعداد دفعات اسهال، میزان دهیدراتاسیون و تشنج بیماران ارتباط معناداری داشت. نتیجهگیری: بر اساس نتایج این مطالعه، اختلال الکترولیتی در کودکان مبتلا به گاستروانتریت حاد نسبتاً شایع است.سن کمتر، جنس مونث، دفعات زیاداسهال وشدت دهیدراتاسیون ازعوامل مستعدکننده بروز اختلالات الکترولیتی است.  بهنظر میرسد آموزش جامعه در زمینۀ استفاده صحیح از ORS و مایعات مناسب در کودکان دچار اسهال برای پیشگیری از بروز این اختلالات لازم است.}, keywords_fa = {گاستروانتریت,اختلال الکترولیتی,دهیدراتاسیون,کودکان}, url = {https://jsmj.ajums.ac.ir/article_46962.html}, eprint = {https://jsmj.ajums.ac.ir/article_46962_16a10e7cc03c2a134d1bb059b305ad74.pdf} }
